The Fayette High School marching band won the Class 2 State Championship in Mokane on Saturday. The championship adds to the Fayette band’s ever-growing trophy case.
“Our kids showed up to represent Fayette in true Falcon Pride fashion today,” said director Elizabeth Betts.
The Falcon Pride band performed in the prelims on Saturday morning before blowing away the competition in the finals that evening.
Fayette also received awards for best music, best visual, and best colorguard.
The Harrisburg marching band finished runner-up at Saturday’s competition.
“They are doing amazing things over there, and we are so lucky to have such an amazing program that pushes us right next door,” Betts said.
Fayette has now picked up first-place trophies in each competition this year. The band will conclude the marching season at the Macon Marching Festival on Saturday.
