Kaylea Jean Felten was crowned the 2023 Howard County Fair Queen, and Melissa Innes was named the Teen Queen Wednesday night at the fairgrounds.

Felten, 17, is about to enter here senior year at Fayette High School. She is the daughter of Torey and Jinger Felten. She will compete for the title of Miss Missouri at the state fair in August.

For her talent, Felten delivered a speech about farming complete with a slide show.

Runner up in the Queen contest was Gretta Sydney Murell, the 18-year-old daughter of Lisa and Stephen Murell from Glasgow. She sang and played guitar in the talent portion of the contest.

Crowned Teen Queen this year was 16-year-old Melissa Innes, who wowed the audience by roping a practice cow while balancing on a barrel in the talent contest.

First runner-up in the Teen contest was Sida Gregory. Other Teen contestants were Gracie Leigh Nicole Innes, Violeta Lucila Mateu, and Kadence Nicole Sulltrop, who was named Miss Congeniality after giving a speech on raising kangaroos.
