Former Glasgow Mayor, County Commissioner Howard McMillan dies

Howard McMillan, who served as Mayor of Glasgow and Howard County Commissioner passed away on Wednesday, September 20.

A veteran of the United States Navy, McMillan worked as a lineman for Kansas City Power and Light until 1995. A year later he was elected Mayor of the City of Glasgow and served for 10 years.

He was appointed by Gov. Jay Nixon as Western District Howard County Commissioner and was later elected twice, serving from November 29, 2009 to December 31, 2020.

Mr. McMillan was laid to rest at Washington Cemetery in Glasgow on Saturday.

Howard County Presiding Commissioner Jerimiah Johnmeyer remembers Mr. McMillan as a “super friendly man” who “made work enjoyable.”
