Fayette Rotary Club purchases PET cart for use in Kenya

Posted

The Rotary Club of Fayette has purchased a Personal Energy Transportation Cart as part of the Craft Beer and Carts fundraiser for Mobility Worldwide, sponsored by the Rotoract and Rotary Clubs in Columbia.

Clubs and organizations throughout central Missouri have been invited to purchase carts for $350, paint them, and bring them to the MU Health Care Pavilion Farmers Market on July 16 from 1 to 4 p.m., where they will be displayed. Craft beer will be available for purchase, and there will be live local music during the event.

The carts purchased through this initiative will be shipped to Kenya in the fall and will give mobility to people who do not have the use of their legs. Each cart and its recipient will be photographed, and these photos will be mailed to the sponsoring club.

Fayette Rotarian Chuck Thompson, who has helped build PETs in the past, and his wife Lou organized the fund-raising effort for the Fayette Club.
