Fayette Police raise $3k for Holiday House

Posted

For the second year in a row, the Fayette Police Department has raised funds for the Fayette Holiday House with a pork steak dinner.

This year’s event was held on Sunday, Nov. 11, and raised $3,000, a 20 percent increase over last year’s donation of $2,500.

“It’s awesome, and it’s a great donation,” said Pat Hilgedick from the Holiday House. “And prices have gone up, so every little bit helps.”

Fayette City Marshal Ford said he and his officers had a lot of fun during the fundraiser. This was the second year for the event, which Chief Ford expects to continue.

The Christmas Holiday House is presented annually  under the auspices of the First Christian Church in Fayette. This will be the 22nd season. Each year, the project distributes toys, games, art supplies, books, hats, and gloves to provide happy holiday celebrations for registered families.

Last year, the Christmas Holiday House served 208 children in Howard County, from newborns to 12-year-olds. More than 60 signed up during the first registration held on Nov. 11.

Families wishing to register for the Christmas Holiday House have one more chance to do so from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 18, at the First Baptist Church Education Building.
