The Fayette High School marching band secured high marks again this year at Carrollton Band Day on Saturday. The event traditionally kicks off the marching band competition season.
Fayette took top honors across the board, winning the street and field competitions. The Falcons’ street and indoor color guards also won first place and were named Best Color Guard in both the street and field. The percussion section won the indoor drumline competition and was named Best Percussion on the field.
Despite the outstanding performances, the day was not without drama. The field competition was delayed by three hours because of rain, and the band eventually went home before learning of the awards due to lightning.
Next up for Fayette is Central Methodist University Band Day on Saturday, October 7.
