The Little Mermaid Jr. was presented to capacity audiences during its three-performance run last weekend. Presented by the Fayette Area Community Theater (FACT), the show ran Friday and Saturday nights, with a final matinee performance on Sunday. Two of the three shows were sold out.
The 38 cast members, all between the ages of six and 18, drew laughs, standing ovations, and praise for their acting, singing, and dancing. The audience particularly enjoyed numbers that featured the cast’s many young performers in their sea creature costumes.
Amythyst Heberlein played the lead of Ariel, and Prince Eric was played by Doug Burchett, with Jillian Flaspohler as Ursula. Many performers played multiple roles, including some of the youngest actors and actresses, who played two or even three parts.
This year’s show was directed by Cindy Dudenhoffer, with help from assistant director Carrie Strodtman, musical director Brenna O’Neill, choreographer Bridget Hussey, vocal coach Aimee Sage, and stage manager Breilly Roy.
