Central Methodist University will honor President Roger Drake and his wife, Judy, for 10 years of leadership during this year’s Homecoming weekend.
The Drakes will be honored during a special sold-out banquet at 6 p.m. on Friday. They will also be the Grand Marshals of the parade on Saturday morning., which will wind its way around the downtown Fayette square starting at 10 a.m.
New recipients will be honored during a Hall of Sponsors presentation at 3:30 p.m. Friday in Linn Memorial.
Athletics are always a major part of Homecoming. On Friday, the men’s and women’s soccer teams will take on Heart opponent Clarke University at 3:30 and 5 p.m., respectively, at Davis Field. A pep rally will be held for alumni and students at 9 p.m. Friday in Puckett Field House.
The football game on Saturday is always a major gathering place for alumni. The Eagles will vie for their second win of the season with a 1 p.m. game against Heart rival Missouri Valley College. The Homecoming King and Queen will be crowned at halftime.
A football tailgate will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
A number of activities will take place Saturday morning following the parade. Paramount to Fayette will be the dedication of the new time capsule on the east side of the courthouse lawn. The town is celebrating its 200th birthday, and the Fayette Bicentennial Committee has received so many entries over the last several months that two vaults will be buried.
Portraits of past CMU band directors will also be unveiled in the band room in Classic Hall following the parade.
Central’s Museum of History will open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, and the Ashby-Hodge Gallery of American Art will be open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Several Greek organizations will hold formal dedications and events for alumni throughout the busy Homecoming weekend.
