The Fayette and Glasgow police departments, along with the Howard County Sheriff’s Office received a Community Partner Award for their help with the Attorney General’s Safe Kits Initiative.
The program is a new tracking system and all three of Howard County’s law enforcement agencies did their part to help reconcile the numbers.
“We want to recognize our partners who have assisted in clearing the backlog of untested sexual assault kits throughout the state. These recipients and their efforts are vital to achieving justice for every victim of an unspeakable crime,” said Attorney General Andrew Bailey. “We would not have made it this far without them.”
Fayette City Marshal David Ford said his department only has two kits out, both of which have been awaiting testing for less than a year.
