Two new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in Fayette on Monday morning. The Howard County Public Health Department posted on its Facebook page that there were two new cases in the county.
The Fayette Advertiser has received confirmation from Central Methodist University that one of those cases was attributed to a student working on campus during the summer. The campus will continue to function as it has been, but all who were in contact with the student, and the student, are taking appropriate measures.
The location of the second case was unconfirmed at the time the newspaper went to press Tuesday morning. It was revealed later on Tuesday that an employee of Commercial Trust Co. was the second case. The bank issued the following statement on its website and on Facebook:
"In the interest of public health concerns, Commercial Trust is announcing that we have an employee who has tested positive for COVID-19 and is being treated under quarantine. We believe that this employee had very limited customer contact. CTC employees are taking recommended precautions and subsequent appropriate actions. In the meantime, Commercial Trust continues to maintain our rigorous cleaning and sanitizing procedures and practice social distancing procedures. We continue to offer full lobby, drive-up & walk-up services in Fayette and full drive-up and walk-up services in Harrisburg. Please refer to our website www.commercialtrust.com or our Facebook page for further updates. Thank you for your understanding."
