The City of Fayette advises all residents to place trash for pickup on the curb by 7 a.m.
Advanced Disposal, the waste disposal company with which the city is contracted, has recently installed cameras on its trucks that take time-stamped photos. Trash not out at the time the truck is ready to make the pickup will not be collected.
“Prior to the cameras the trash company was always more than happy to return to any address but they have been clear with me going forward that will not be the case,” said Fayette City Administrator Tyler Griffith.
In July the company announced it would no longer pick up weekly recycling, citing the closure of recycling centers across the nation after the bottom fell out of the industry. The company also drew criticism from citizens and the Fayette City Council when bulk items were not being picked up.
Advanced Disposal, based in Florida, operates in 16 states and the Bahamas. On October 30 it was acquired by disposal giant Waste Management for $4.6 billion.
The current contract between the City of Fayette and Advanced Disposal extends through May 31, 2021.
