Fayette, Mo. resident, Rosemary Young, 98, passed away August 12, 2020, at University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia.

Rosemary Ann Young was born July 26, 1922, in Evanston, Il., a daughter to Herbert and Barbara (Malget) Hansen.  She was baptized at St. Nicholas Church.  Rosemary attended St. Nicholas grade school and graduated from Evanston Township High School in 1940.  Rosemary held several bookkeeping jobs early on in her career in Illinois.  She worked in the credit department for Public Service Company and Swan-Finch Oil Company to name a couple.  Rosemary married the love of her life, Leonard Young, on September 14, 1946, when he returned home from WWII.  Together they enjoyed 68 years of marriage.  Leonard preceded her in death on March 9, 2015.  In 1953, Leonard and Rosemary bought a farm and moved to Missouri where they owned and operated a Grade “A” dairy business.  From 1972-1987, Rosemary worked for the District Clerk of the Soil and Water Conservation District of Howard County, Mo.  The Youngs stayed active in 4H, oftentimes serving as project leaders.  They also volunteered at the Fayette Senior Center for 35 years.  Rosemary was a devout Catholic and member of St. Joseph Church in Fayette, and over the years, she served in several ministries.

Survivors include five children, Beverly Markland of Fayette, Richard Young of Dallas, Georgia, Raymond (Kelly) Young of Gladewater, Texas, Karen (Greg) Frink of Fayette, and Edward (Sharon) Young of Columbia, Missouri; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.  In addition to her husband and parents, Rosemary was preceded in death by two brothers, Herbert and James Hansen.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 AM, Friday, August 14, 2020, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fayette, with Fr. Bill Peckman officiating.  Visitation will an hour before the service starting at 10 AM.  Burial will follow the funeral service at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville.  Following guidelines recommended by health professionals, masks or face coverings are requested and will be mandatory for the visitation, and social distancing will be observed. 

Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Joseph Catholic Church.  Arrangements are entrusted to Friemonth-Freese Funeral Service of Fayette.
