Glasgow Chief of Police Charlie Polson announced Monday his candidacy for Western District Commissioner for Howard County. Howard McMillan, who currently holds the seat, will not run for re-election.
Polson said he is able to semi-retire from law enforcement this year. “My passion has always been in public service,” he said in a press release.
Polson’s career in law enforcement spans 28 years. Before he was elected Police Chief in Glasgow in 2016, he held the office of Howard County Sheriff for more than 14 years.
“I believe my 28 years of experience in county, city, and federal government makes me the most qualified for this position,” Polson said. “I am fair, honest, hard working and able to make very tough decisions which I believe are important assets needed to lead a county.”
Polson’s wife, Dina Haskamp-Polson, has worked as a Registered Nurse for 25 years for Howetown Homecare in Fayette. The couple has three children and two grandchildren.
