Planning for Fayette’s annual July 4 Party in the Park is under new leadership this year. Tristan Head is spearheading the family-friendly event held at the Fayette City Park on Independence Day.
Mrs. Head is seeking volunteers to help run celebration, which has a full slate of events beginning with the parade at 10 a.m. Any volunteers, she said, would not be expected to work all day, but rather would manage specific events for an hour or two.
Returning this year will be the Quilt of Valor presentation by the Peacemakers Quilters, and the Salute to Veterans.
Cheyenne and Andy Cook will once again host frog and turtle races with hefty prize payouts for the top three finishers.
Contestants ages eight and younger are being sought for Little Mr. and Miss Firecracker.
Other planned events include a Power Wheels race, a disc golf tournament, a 3-on-3 basketball tournament, a water balloon toss, live music, and performances by the cast of the Fayette Area Community Theatre.
Vendors and food trucks will be available all day long. The fun-filled day always concludes with a fireworks display by J&M Displays, presented by the City of Fayette (see story this page).
More activities are planned and will be announced soon.
