After losing the first game in pool play to the Slater Wildcats 60-28, no one could have blamed the New Franklin Bulldogs boys basketball team had they been leery stepping onto the court for their second game of the Glasgow basketball tournament. The Bulldogs, however showed no fear, as they stepped up on Friday and soundly defeated the Otterville Eagles 57-43.
Wednesday’s game was highlighted by the senior Tre Cowans who scored 18 of the Bulldogs 28 points in the loss to Slater.
On Friday, going up against Otterville, senior Tyson Dowell scored 21 points along with another 16 pumped in by Cowans.
Saturday brought the third-place game for the Bulldogs as they were pitted against the Westran Hornets. Westran pulled ahead early and was firmly entrenched in the lead for good by halftime en route to a 55-45 win. FreshmanTanner Bishop led the Bulldog scoring with 16 points along with Dowell’s 12.
New Franklin was scheduled to travel to Fayette on Tuesday to take on the Falcons with a 7:30 p.m. tipoff. They will then hit the hardwood at Madison on Friday.
