MU Extension Council nominees announced

Citizens of voting age in Howard County will have an opportunity to vote and elect members to the University of Missouri Extension Council January 18th-25th. The elected and appointed members of the extension council oversee all local extension finances and guide extension work within the county.  

Three candidates have filed for the election, but five seats are open. The term of office is two years; a council member may be re-elected to a second, consecutive term, serving four years total.  

Voting is open from Jan. 18 to 25. All ballots must be returned by 4 p.m on Jan. 25. Voters may cast ballots at the Howard County Extension Office or online at extension.missouri.edu/howard or on Facebook at www.facebook.com/HoCoExtension.

Mindy Nation and her husband own a small farm in Howard County and understand the need for agriculture.  Mindy was active in 4-H and FFA and has three children currently in 4-H.  Mindy works at the Sheriff’s office in Fayette and is involved with the community.  

Wesley Wells is a lifelong resident of Glasgow.  He is employed by the Missouri Dept. of Corrections and has a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice.  Wesley has a working knowledge of equine, cattle and farm operations.  

Rebecca Fenton - The MU Extension County philosophy matches her interest in helping improve lives and communities through education and health. She believes in service and advocacy, is an active member in groups from the local level to the national level. She strongly believes it is her duty as a professional educator and practitioner to contribute to the community where she lives and serves.  Rebecca is currently the OTA Program Director and Associate Professor at Central Methodist University.
