Michael Ernie Breckle, 67, of Jefferson City, passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at Capitol Region Medical Center.

Mike was born to Ruthene Mitchell and Earnest Breckle in St. Louis, Mo., on May 6, 1956. He grew up in St. Charles, Mo., with his family, including sister Carolyn and step-dad Ray Allen. Mike had a calling to serve as a law enforcement officer and did so with the Boonville Police Department for many years. He married Wendy Nichols of Fayette, on May 5, 1979. The two of them shared life adventures, including raising two daughters, Nicole and Adrian. Once becoming a family of four, Mike and Wendy built their home on Lori Drive where they created a foundation of love, support, guidance, and values that is cherished and continued by their children and grandchildren.

Mike lived in Jefferson City for the later part of his life. He enjoyed traveling the country, especially by motorcycle. He liked to explore new places with his family and life partner, Sherry Wells. It was widely known that he also enjoyed entertaining friends and family (and strangers if they’d listen!) with humor and music. Mike’s voice and guitar playing will echo in the laughter, stories, and memories of many.

Mike was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and his father-in-law, Nick Nichols, Sr.

Survivors include his devoted daughters, Nicole and Adrian; sons-in-law Jason Azdell and Will Harris; grandchildren Samantha and Tucker Mullins, and Megan and Rory Azdell; as well as by Sherry and Katy Wells; mother-in-law Retha Nichols; siblings Carolyn (Mark) Thompson, Nick (Leesa) Nichols, and Audrey (Brian) Harmon. He enjoyed the company of his nieces and nephews and their families, and that of his many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Mike was fortunate to be surrounded by loved ones in his last days and a visitation to celebrate his life will be held at the Mt. Pleasant Christian Church Cemetery on North State Route A in Rural Howard County, Mo., on Saturday, February 10 from 12 to 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
