Kylie Tillman appointed as East Ward Alderwoman

The Fayette City Council once again has six members. Kylie Tillman was sworn in Tuesday as East Ward Alderwoman. She takes the place of Jeremy Dawson, who was forced to resign when he moved outside of the ward.

Mrs. Tillman received unanimous approval from the five sitting council members following the appointment request by Mayor Kevin Oeth. She will serve on the council until the municipal election on April 6, 2021. At that time she may run as a candidate for the seat. If approved by voters, she will then serve out the remainder of the term which ends in April of 2022.

Terms for aldermen last two years.

A Central Methodist University graduate, Mrs. Tillman works as a Family Advocacy Specialist at Coyote Hill Christian Children’s Home in rural Harrisburg.

Mr. Dawson has stated his intent to run for city council in April, this time for the Northwest Ward seat, which is currently occupied by Pat Roll. Mr. Roll was appointed to the council when then alderman Larry Dimond resigned due to health reasons. He will serve until the term expires in April.

Mr. Roll said last week that he does not intend to seek election for the seat in April.

In total, three city council terms expire in April. Seats up for election include the East Ward, held by Stephanie Ford, the Southwest Ward, held by Grafton Cook, and the Northeast Ward, held by Mr. Roll. The election will be held on April 6. Filing for the municipal election opens December 15, 2020, and closes at the end of the business day on January 19, 2021.
