Fayette resident, Junaita Poland, 67, passed away at her home September 21, 2020.
Junaita Bernice Poland was born March 8, 1953 in Boonville, Mo., a daughter of George Estill and Martha Rose (Blessing) Thurman. Junaita acquired a GED and furthered her education, earning an associate’s degree specializing in nursing. She worked as a caretaker in the healthcare industry for numerous years. On March 11, 1993, Junaita married Gary Wayne Poland in Columbia, Mo. Together, they’ve enjoyed over 27 years of marriage. Junaita enjoyed sewing, gardening and cooking. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She will be deeply missed by family and friends.
Survivors include her husband of the home, Gary Poland; son, George Ray (Lisa) Thomas of Fayette, Mo.; daughter, Rexanna June Thomas of Fayette, Mo.; step-son, Roylee Jeffrey Poland of Fayette, Mo.; six grandchildren, Debra Rose Thomas, Wallace “Butch” Calvert, Dakota Ray Thomas, Andrew Estill (Jaylee) Day, Michael Anthony Thomas, and Kadin Lee McGowin; one great-grandson, Ryder Scott Cole Day; sister, Martha Ann Thurman of Fayette, Mo.; and sister-in-law, Judy Poland. She is also survived by her beloved niece and nephew, Cloyd and Onie Bias. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, George Thurman.
A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, Oct. 3, 2020 at 600 W. Morrison St. (old Keller Building). Arrangements are under the direction of Friemonth-Freese Funeral Service of Fayette, Mo.
