John Lawrence Henderson (Larry) passed away from cancer and its horrible complications on December 5, 2020 at Duke Raleigh Hospital, Raleigh North Carolina at age 73.
Larry was born to Elmer Earl Henderson and Jewell Virginia Mueller in Kansas City, Kansas on February 26, 1947. He spent most of his youth in Fayette, Missouri before joining the US Navy. After 8 years, he started a corporate career in technology that led him to Nashville, Atlanta and retirement in Philadelphia at SunGard Availability Services in 2006.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Wheeler Henderson of Raleigh, NC; two daughters Jennifer Turner (Michael) of Canton GA, and Margaret Ray (Johnny) of White, GA, along with four grandchildren, Jacob, Grayson, Savannah and Luke; Brother James R Henderson (Jackie) of Garner, North Carolina.
Due to Covid and its effect on all our lives, there will be no service. Larry was always a champion of the underdog and helping those less privileged than himself.
Memorial contributions may be made to Servants for Christ Outreach Ministries, 11007 Cleveland Rd, Garner NC 27529 or Saving Grace Animals for Adoption, Post Office Box 1649 Wake Forest, NC 27588 or savinggracenc.org. Both are organizations that he highly respected for their work.
