Fayette FFA adopts soldiers for holidays

The Fayette FFA program has adopted a pair of mid-Missouri soldiers for the holiday season. Air Force Staff Sgt. Gregory Hilsenbeck, from Jamestown, and Airman Tanner J. Myer from Eldon, will receive care packages from the FFA students.

The soldiers were nominated by their families through the Clear99 Adopt a Soldier for the Holidays Program. Chapter president Molly Thies presented the idea for the chapter to participate in the service project.

“Members could bring in items for the soldiers and a few members went together to collect the rest of the gift,” said Fayette FFA instructor Robyn Eschenbrenner. “Family members filled out forms listing the things they would enjoy receiving and we got to pick out what we wanted to send them.”

Students filled the packages with socks, Kansas City Chiefs gear, Fayette FFA Shirts, lanyards, food, and water bottles.

“The Fayette FFA Chapter is thankful for all the men and women away from home this Christmas serving our country,” Eschenbrenner said.
