Downtown will play host to the annual Christmas parade on Saturday evening. “A Hometown Christmas,” presented by Fayette Main Street, will kick off at 5 p.m.
The event will recognize hometown frontline workers who have been fighting the COVID-19 pandemic. Faculty and staff of the Fayette R-III School District will represent those frontline workers as the parade’s Grand Marshalls. Superintendent Jill Wiseman confirmed that she plans to be in the parade. Already more than 15 parade entries have been confirmed.
Following the parade, children will be able to give their Christmas wishes to Santa. Unlike past years where kids have been able to sit on Santa’s lap inside the courthouse, Santa and his elves will be practicing social distancing. The big man will still entertain requests from children, only this year he will be protected by plexiglass on the bandstand.
