The Christmas Parade presented by Fayette Main Street in downtown Fayette on Saturday evening was the biggest and best in recent memory. More than 35 floats, cars, golf carts, and horses delighted a large and enthusiastic crowd as the parade rounded the courthouse square.
The Grand Marshalls of the parade were Hometown Frontline Workers. They were represented by members of the Fayette School District and the Howard County Public Health Department.
“We wanted to recognize our hometown frontline workers,” said Janell Dimond, one of the parade organizers.
Also recognized were the Fayette Police Dept, the Fayette and Howard County Fire Departments, the Howard County Ambulance Service, and City of Fayette administration, employees, and government members.
Staff and employees from both local medical clinics were asked to be Grand Marshalls, as well,” said Mrs. Dimond. “Both clinics would of like to have participated in the parade, but both needed to be working at other locations on Saturday.”
Awards winners were named for both the parade and Christmas Tree decorating contest. Trees were displayed in various windows around the square.
