A student at Clark Middle School in Fayette has tested positive for the coronavirus, according to an announcement from the district’s nurse and superintendent.
On Monday the district sent an email to parents that stated it is working with the Howard County Public Health Department to engage in contact-tracing. “Either the District or the Health Department will contact you in the event that your student is identified to have been at high risk of exposure,” it stated.
The positive COVID-19 case is the third for the district since school began on Aug. 25. Previously, two high school students had tested positive for the virus. Approximately 15 students had been placed on quarantine revolving around those two cases.
Despite quarantines, district attendance continues to exceed 90%. The district will not switch to online learning until attendance drops to 80% or below.
