Captain Robert Britton was nominated for and received the Federal Aviation Administration's most prestigious award, The Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award and the Blue Ribbon file of his achievement's from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airman's Record Center at Oklahoma City.
The certificate reads, “In recognition of your fifty years of exemplary aviation flight experience, distinguished professionalism, and steadfast commitment to aviation safety” you are awarded the Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award. It is signed by Mr. Steve Dickson, FAA Administrator.
Due to COVID-19 a formal presentation by the Flight Standards District office in Kansas City was not held.
Captain Britton is a retired airline pilot from Trans World Airlines (now part of American Airlines) and is currently a farmer in Howard County. After retirement, he flew for several companies including Mid-Missouri Cellular. His wife, Morrene (Hughes) of fifty years was also a commercial pilot, certified flight instructor, and instrument instructor. They kept their own plane on the farm and enjoyed flying it around the U.S. and Canada while operating a beef feedlot and row crop operation in Howard County.
Several members of the Britton family have also flown, including a daughter, a brother, sister in law and nephew who recently retired as a Delta Airline Captain.
Captain Britton is planning a celebration party at the Boonville Airport in the near future hosted by him and pilot friends.
