An Armstrong man was charged June 12 with careless and imprudent driving and resisting arrest following an incident during a protest in downtown Columbia. Police say that Sebastian Tucker, 20, drove onto the sidewalk at the intersection of Broadway Avenue and Sixth Street on June 3.
A video of the incident that circulated on the internet showed Tucker driving his red pickup truck through that intersection before traveling south in Sixth Street. That intersection was being blocked by protesters at the time. He then returned, traveling north on Sixth Street toward the intersection. That’s when two Columbia police officers stopped Tucker, and spoke with him for an undetermined amount of time.
In the video, the officers can be seen violently removing Tucker from his truck. They hauled him to the hood of a nearby police car, and handcuffed him before a cheering crowd of protesters.
Tucker is scheduled to appear in Columbia’s municipal court on September 2.
