51st Optimist Power Pull Saturday at Fairgrounds

Posted

The annual Fayette Optimists Power Pull will take place this Saturday, June 17, at the Howard County Fairgrounds in Fayette. Gates open at 2 p.m. and the event starts at 6:30 p.m.

The event serves as the Fayette Optimist Club’s largest fundraiser of the year and draws competitors and spectators from around the nation.

Tickets are $20, and children 7-12 are just $5. Children 6 and under are free.

Fayette Optimist President Brian Spielbauer said this year’s Pro Pulling League event has something for everyone, including a youth pedal pull at 4 p.m. He said there are 85/95 pro stock tractors, 9000 pro farm tractors, pro diesel street trucks, 8500 light pro stock diesel tractors, and even pro stock 4x4 trucks.

“We have a great lineup of competitors coming in from all across the country,” Spielbauer said. “We’re really looking forward to the weekend.”

Funds raised by the club directly benefit youth in Fayette, and the Power Pull is by far the largest event of the year.

“This is the driver for all the great things we do across Fayette and Howard County,” Spielbauer said.

In addition to the great pulling action, Spielbauer said the Optimists will again offer a full-service concession stand with great pricing.

“It’s a great way to spend the evening with the family,” he said. “The weather looks like it is going to cooperate for us, so everyone should come on out.”

Major sponsors for the event include Air Link Rural Broadband, Audsley Monument and Muddy Mo Pizzaria, Commercial Trust Company, Gene Gerlt Logging, Stine Seed Company, and CMMG/Black Rifle.
